SAMER HAMADA EXPLAINS RED EYES AND THE TREATMENTS FOR RED EYES
Red eye is not uncommon in children, and usually, it’s a common cause such as a child rubbing their eyes or playing outdoors, and a bit of sand gets into the eye.
However, if red eyes are persistent or associated with other symptoms, then the child should be seen by a specialist.
There must be a thorough examination and assessment to see what’s the underlying cause of red eyes…

This is now becoming known as a disease in children which affects the glands that produce oil. So in effect, the eyes become sore, uncomfortable, and the child becomes very sensitive to light.
If your child is sensitive to light or has red eyes all the time, then it probably should be examined and assessed to rule out any severe disease that could be treated. The treatment usually is simple, which is just a bit of a heated eye mask, eyelid massages, and antibiotics–this will help to clear the blocked oil glands. However, sometimes this is not enough, and further treatment might be required.
