This is now becoming known as a disease in children which affects the glands that produce oil. So in effect, the eyes become sore, uncomfortable, and the child becomes very sensitive to light.
If your child is sensitive to light or has red eyes all the time, then it probably should be examined and assessed to rule out any severe disease that could be treated. The treatment usually is simple, which is just a bit of a heated eye mask, eyelid massages, and antibiotics–this will help to clear the blocked oil glands. However, sometimes this is not enough, and further treatment might be required.
When Dr. Hamada sees your child, he will go through all the options available and depending on the level of the disease, he can advise you on the appropriate treatment.
