How successful is lens replacement?
SAMER HAMADA TELLS US THE TRUE SUCCESS RATE OF LENS REPLACEMENT
Lens replacement surgery is one of the most successful operations we do. It’s very similar to the cataract operation success rate, in terms of the surgical outcomes.
Visual outcomes depend on the type of implants you have. So, if you have multi-focal lens implants, you can expect to be able to read and see distance without needing glasses.
Freedom of glasses is normally achieved in around 85% of patients. Those 10 to 15% of patients that still have a refractive error, or let’s call it residual refractive error after the operation, will require additional surgeries, such as laser vision correction to complement the outcomes, and give them freedom from glasses.
You have to be suitable for laser vision correction before this can be offered to you.
