Mr Hamada Performs The 1st Corneal Neurotisation In The UK

11th January 2016 – Mr Hamada performed the 1st corneal neurotisation on an adult in the UK at Queen Victoria Hospital, this was with joint work from plastic surgeon colleague Mr Charles Nduka, and oculoplastic surgeon colleague Mr. Raman Malhotra. This surgery aims to bring back corneal sensation by taking nerves from other parts of the body and attaching them to the cornea. A nerve from the leg is used to connect nerves from the good eye to the diseased eye what we call nerve transplantation or corneal neurotisation.
