Recovery after ICL is pretty quick. Within the first day, 70% to 80% of patients have restored vision and even achieve the driving standard. The vision continues to mature and sharpen gradually. Within three to four weeks, you should have the final outcomes.
For the first couple of days, the eye feels a little bit gritty and uncomfortable. Then, gradually things get better and better. By the fourth week, I expect patients to finish the drops we prescribe after treatment and they get back to their normal life.
What is the recovery rate after ICL?
Recovery for patients with ICL means that the eye is comfortable and the patients have the vision they were hoping for. Visual restoration is pretty quick after ICL. The majority of patients get 70% to 80% of vision by day one after the operation. However, your vision will continue to mature and sharpen for three to four weeks after your procedure. Your eyes will feel comfortable within two or three days.
What are the long-term effects of ICL?
Essentially, the ICL does not cause any damage or harm to the eye. It is an add-on lens. We ask the patient to come back to the clinic to check their eye health every year. We generally check the health of the cornea and check the eye pressure. We don’t expect that the ICL will cause any harm in the long term to the eye.
What are the success rates?
ICL implant surgery is among the most successful vision correction surgery we do. ICL results are amazingly good. I would say almost 100% of my patients achieve the target and beyond.
